Grand Theft Auto

Commonly shortened to ‘GTA,’ Grand Theft Auto is a series of crime-drama video games. Users play a character living out a life of crime, from stealing cars to drug running and committing armed robberies.

What is it?

In Grand Theft Auto players carry out a series of missions and tasks, set in fictional cities (usually cities in America) that are based on real places. The game involves carrying out crimes that range from low-level to running crime empires. In later versions of the games, gameplay supports more ‘free will’ style playing, allowing the gamer to explore the fictional city, rather than simply following set gameplay. This comes with hazards, however, as the gamer is free to choose to play out gratuitous killings of innocent characters, graphic violence, or gambling.
